Naturalisierung / Einbürgerung

Naturalization

Simple Definition

The legal process of becoming Swiss. Regular naturalization generally requires 10 years of residency (C Permit).

Why this matters to Expats.

The Mount Everest of bureaucracy. It is not just "filling a form". You are interviewed by your neighbors/commune. They test your language, geography, and "integration". It costs CHF 2,000 - 4,000.

Actionable Intelligence

Simplified Naturalization: If you are married to a Swiss for 3 years (and lived in CH for 5), it is much easier and faster (Facilitated Naturalization).

Move Freeze: Do NOT move municipality during the process! It can reset your local waiting period.

Master the Language

Integration requires communication. Find the best language schools near you.
