Bank Clearing Number
Simple Definition
A 3-5 digit code identifying the specific bank (e.g. UBS, CS, ZKB). Included within the IBAN (positions 5-9).
Why this matters to Expats.
Rarely used alone anymore, but some old bureaucratic forms still ask for it separately. It works like a "Routing Number" or "Sort Code".
